Robert Abbey Genie Lamp from Lamps Plus
So after contemplating table lamps for my living room I landed on this one. A single gourd style lamp with brass accents in a fun, pinkish plum color from Robert Abbey. As I’ve been redecorating my living room, I’ve been buying lots of pieces that are very traditional and feel a bit “mature.” So I thought these lamps would add jolt of color and a youthful flair to help balance out some of the more traditional pieces and make the space feel more age appropriate. I’m definitely going to change the shades to something a bit more streamlined. Perhaps a vellum paper shade like the ones on the Christopher Spitzmiller lamps below which were my inspiration. My version is definitely “the look for less” as the Spitzmillers are $1000ish and my new lamps were $100ish! I just ordered them and can’t wait for them to arrive!

Can’t wait to see your living room!! I am trying to incorporate more traditional items because I’ve accumulated way too many trendy ones. Love the color. I also ordered a lamp from lamps plus like two weeks ago and no e-mail confirming it has shipped. I’m starting to worry…..

[...] One of the best things about Christmas in New York is that you can buy fresh holiday greenery like trees, wreaths and garland on just about every street corner in Manhattan. I bought my live wreath above from a street vendor near my apartment and hung it on my living room wall in the place of my starburst mirror. It fills my apartment with the most amazing, wintery scent. I took a few acorns and hand painted the tips so they looked as if they had been dipped in gold then attached them to the wreath with wire. For a pop of color, I decorated the wreath with a hand tied bow made from pink ribbon I purchased at B & J Florist Supply in the flower district. The pink picks up the color of my table lamps. [...]
